Verse 1
in the city stands a tower so tall
if no-ones there who will hear it fall
foundations built through many years
covert party approaching near
an end in sight, transgressors justice
unexpected, but possible life-twist
to kneel, resigned to meet lead's destiny
or queen and country to win the day

Chorus 1
all because you must make the break with protocol,
you must break the rules when you set out your stall
when representing the few, must keep your eye fixed on the ball
with no escape they won't even try to crawl
when you break with protocol

Verse 2
rules are there, some say to be broken
unwritten words so softly spoken
body language that's never seen
behind grand gestures, so clearly token
whispered direction from unlikely places
concise instructions, but never faces
if they fall on deaf ears are they heard
inaudible guidance with no human traces

Chorus 2
all because you must make a break with protocol,
you must break the rules when you set out your stall
representing the few, your eye must stay fixed on the ball
with no escape, they will have no curtain call

Bridge 1
there's just one chance you have at this
you must prepare the hit without confusion's mist
closing in where angels dare
fulfill the mission, DEVIL MAY CARE

Chorus 4
the time is now to make your break with protocol,
to break the rules, clearly set out your stall
representing the few, never lose sight of the ball
with no escape, they will have no curtain call

Bridge 2
you only have one chance at this
you must prepare the hit, the enemy dismiss
enter the arena where angels dare
to hell and back, DEVIL MAY CARE

Outro
now's the time to break with protocol
you can't be late to make that break with protocol
protocol

Comment:- The lyrical idea for Break With Protocol was re-vamped to meet with a competition for the audio accompianying the new Bond book DEVIL MAY CARE. We thought we were in with a shout but we didn't even get short listed. Ah well, you win some but lose most!!
