SIMPLE SONG
(Music by Steve McAndrew / Lyrics by Steve McAndrew and Nick Harthill)

Verse 1
i remember when love was such a simple thing, that a smile would break your heart
who played the fool more often then, who was fool and who was smart
love's always easier on the outside looking in, for an older wiser fool
We all no best when the answer's shown, we all know best before the question's ever known
we all know best

Chorus 1
such a simple thing was love, such a simple thing, was love such a simple thing?
such a simple thing was love, such a simple thing, was love such a simple thing?

Verse 2
When it all began, there was so much love, but it was rashly thrown away
man felt more important than the part he had to play
the result is what we see now, in this world of pain and lies
you don't need to dig too deeply, just look at the sea of eyes
look at the sea of eyes

Chorus 2
such a simple thing was love, such a simple thing, was love such a simple thing?
such a simple thing was love, such a simple thing, was love such a simple thing?

Verse 3
to every problem there's an answer, but it's never too plain to see
how the movement of the machinery can have any marked effect on me
all that is apparent in this ever-changing world
is that some will love and some will die, and many will claim not to have heard
claim not to have heard

Chorus 3
such a simple thing was love, such a simple thing, was love such a simple thing?
such a simple thing was love, such a simple thing, was love such a simple thing?

Comment:- This is one of two songs Nick Harthill and i created. Nick came up with the lyrics for the first Verse and Chorus and they sparked the chord progression. This, coupled with the excellent orchestral arrangement by Ricky Diplacito, make this one of my more sombre offerings, including acoustic guitar solo.
