DANCING IN THE BOW WAVE
(Words and Music by Steve McAndrew)
Verse 1
there's a time for growing older
but that time is not today
setting sail to bask in sunshine
and if we're lucky maybe see the dolphins play
Pre-Chorus 1
no-one can tell, no-one predict it
they may be there, though we just can't see
tails and fins that slice clean through the water
playing, diving, tumbling wild and free
Chorus 1
they may come DANCING IN THE BOW WAVE
as we're romancing on the bow wave
Verse 2
two or three, maybe the whole family
it's a sight to behold, to warm the heart
they may arrive beside us without warning
and then just as quickly they may depart
Pre-Chorus 2
oh to reach down there and touch them
with their smiling eyes and lengthy grins
as they cut once more from the left side to the right side
somersaulting again, they immerse and take you in
MIddle 8
there are times when you just wish you had the freedom
maybe tomorrow you may be, be so wild and free
as go DANCING IN THE BOW WAVE
Guitar Solo
Pre-Chorus 3
all eyes peeled for the next to break the surface
then frenzied fingers point in unity
before they wave goodbye to leave smiling conversation
it's not every day to be graced with such company
Chorus 2
as they were DANCING IN THE BOW WAVE
you know that they were DANCING IN THE BOW WAVE
they were dancing, dancing, DANCING IN THE BOW WAVE
as we're romancing on the now wave
Comment:- It's always a special day if you glimpse the Symi dolphins that we've only seen twice (two years ago on our return journey to Rhodes aboard Symi 2 and September 2004 as we left Maroni on the homeward leg to Yiallos)!!
