LOOKING UPWARDS, LOOKING DOWNWARDS PART I
(Music by Stephen Rivera/Lyrics by Steve McAndrew)

like two sides of a coin
like a head or a tail
close but never together
like a wheel on the rail
co-existent assurance
here to do as is bid
not the way of the past
like our forefathers did

looking upwards at windows
with their faceless facade
looking backwards to days
when the people were glad
looking down from the window
they are kept in their place

looking upwards at windows
with their faceless facade
looking backwards to days
when the people were glad
looking down from the window
they are kept in their place
by our covert existence
they must not see our face
by our covert existence
they must not see our face

like two sides of a coin
like a head or a tail
close but never together
like a wheel on the rail
co-existent assurance
here to do as is bid
not the way of the past
like our forefathers did

looking upwards at windows
with their faceless facade
looking backwards to days
when the people were glad
looking down from the window
they are kept in their place
by our covert existence
they must not see our face

why so subjected from the start of our day
to this land of oppresion
to the past we can't stray
if we could only see who was behind the mask
it would focus our minds
make much easier the task

looking upwards at windows
with their faceless facade
looking backwards to days
and the fun that we had

looking down from the window
they are kept in their place
by our covert existence
in satin and lace

it wasn't always this way
it's a time for a change
let's uncover their palour
let's the mask re-arrange
how do we break their cover
bring them out in the light
under cover of darklness
under cover of night

time to stand and be counted
to unburden the foe
of their lowly existence
leave them nowhere to go
now to come to the light
and to realise the dream was just that
and to realise that things are not quite what they seem

looking upwards at windows
now we stand full in view
looking forwards to days
with our hearts just and true
looking down from the window
now there's no-one fenced in
with our unhidden existence
all the losers now win

from my corner i've lived
in this corner i'll die
without asking the question
without wondering why
as i watch through this portal
brainwaves never break stride
ever pulled one direction
as the moon pulls the tide

Comment:- This was written in response to a conceptual idea of Stephen from Florida about the fact that only two per cent of the wealthiest control the remainder from behind their veils of secrecy!
