July 2007

July has arrived already, where is this year going and what will this month bring?

My darling wife Linda got the results from her dental nurse exam that she sat in May and I am happy to announce she is a fully qualified dental nurse now.....go, go Linda!! This is no mean feat considering the amount of additional pressure that was brought to bear by Marion's health etc etc At one point Linda was seriously considering giving it all up but happily managed to get through the obstacles in her way and now has the spoils...........viewing it as well worth the effort now, although it wasn't always that way.

I AM SO PROUD OF HER ACHIEVEMENT...MY LINDA!

I am slowly starting to get back to some musical output after what feels like an eternity and it feels good...real good.

Incidentally I have just uploaded the photos from Crete here, hope you enjoy.

The Musician's Collaboration CD that features a lot of my vocals (and some lyrics) is available here.

Please go and buy it and help the cause my friends!.

I have just today finished a set of lyrics that, with hindsight, are loosely based on the global warming problem, although that was not what I was thinking when I wrote them. I always find it amusing how an idea takes different turns, often ending up far away from the early idea at it's inception.

Anyway, here are the lyrics --

Every Day's A School Day (Lyrics - McAndrew)

Time and again we make the same mistakes Kicking throttle when it should be brakes Ever faster in this crazy world Where Terra Firma, she speeds and shakes

Ready the class for today.............because............

Every day is a school day Back to being kids in the school play Now you better pay attention There's both a right and a wrong way, I think it quite safe to say More so when every day is a school day.

It's time to listen and learn.............yes

School day, school day, school day

Knowledge kills just as knowledge thrills He who pays the piper can take the spills Escaping nothing but the light of day High emotion in abundance still

Overflow the undertow............because............

Every day is a school day Back to being kids in the school play Now you better believe it Now there's both a right and a wrong way, it's never unsafe to say Because every day is a school day.

Time to put one and one together and make two or three or four or more

Now some things never change, they just rearrange Minds like flood gates open, absorbing perfection and mistakes

Every day is a school day In uniforms of light grey, with always something to say, we held sway We always went the long way, as from the path we did stray Because every day is a school day

Thirst for knowledge in a growing mind Seeing more we become less blind Build on reason and apathy As confusion and ignorance unravels and unwinds

And another lyric written for another of the wonderful Rob Wood Project songs -

See This Through (McAndrew) Chances come along, they may tempt you, don't exempt you from the choice you make Gonna sing my song for all to hear Make no mistake The sun she hides behind the newest cloud, The rain is crying "for crying out loud" Cosmopolitan tide she's standing so proud, standing so proud All around the smiling faces bless the day Pure white, no black, not even grey, even grey No matter what tries to change the course For better or worse, I'm gonna see this through Time for revision, make your decision Just see it through With stark precision, no second edition Just steer it through You're the man, the man on a mission You'll see it through Don't let them push you Don't let them push and pull you Don't resign or back down Though they try to fool you Oh do you hear that, do you fear that Are you near that point of no return, when you cannot turn away Now or never together, feel the pages burn The sun dives behind the nearest cloud The rain is crying "for crying out loud" Still the sea of smiling faces bless the day Pure white, no black, not even grey, even grey Ages come and ages go, seem to pass so slow You still must see this through Feel the strength and power and confidence grow I'm gonna see this through Whatever comes along Gonna sing my song and surely see this through Keep things going strong, where they belong Just see it through Don't let them push you Don't let them push and pull you Don't resign or back down Though they try to fool you Don't you let them fool you Don't let them try to fool you Don't resign or back down Just see it through

And another lyric for the same project...........I have been busy!

Thrill of the Chase (McAndrew)

Open the throttles

You know there's time for all out speeding Just as there's time when passion needs feeding A time for mounting the trusty steed and Riding 'til the break of the day

We up the revs, now we're on our journey Which way to go, is it yours or my way By the back streets or down the highway Wild horses couldn't stand in our away

Charging on with all laid bare Total abandon, we just don't care This love will surely take us there As surely as the coming of day

Now we're running and not hiding Racing heartbeats keep colliding Tension mounting like a fountain that's surely about to overflow You're heading while I'm tailing With resistance surely failing While I'm counting from my mountain Before we bask in the afterglow

There's no stopping us now, We've gone too far, just like a runaway train Until the next time When we in union do it all again Come the new day Yellow from the grey Before the brief refrain and we do it all again

Charging on with all laid bare Total abandon, we just don't care This love will surely take us there As surely as the coming of day

Now we're running and not hiding Our racing heartbeats keep colliding Tension mounting like a fountain and a pressure that surely grows You're heading while I'm tailing With resistance surely failing While I'm counting from my mountain Before we bask in the afterglow

There's no stopping us now, We've gone too far on our runaway train Until the next time When we in union do it all again

Come the new day Yellow from the grey Before the brief refrain and we do it all again
