Happy New Year and I hope you had a great time and the year provides you with everything you have wished for. 04 Jan - OK, still nothing and I now must admit to mild panic now starting to set in! I also forgot to mention it in the rather sparse December Diary that I had a brief explosion of lyrical creativity over the last two days of the last decade 2009!! I wrote these lyrics on 30/12/09 in response to a guitar riff idea posted on the musician's collaboration site by Bill (R4M)from the USA. I think they're pretty self-explanatory and don't take a lot of working out!! I also added the harmony guitar motif parts. You can hear an early mix of how it's turning out here, as mixed by CosmicDolphin for you to listen to, which I hope you will agree is pretty good! DEVIL IN THE DETAIL (McAndrew) Verse 1 all seems normal just like it always has been except for patterns that are forming in the sun screen as global tensions are reflected in the oil price now comes the moment when we all must stop and think twice Chorus 1 how can we fight when most don't see, he's so invisible when most are groping in the darkness indivisible the marionette, he pulls the strings in horns and forked tail it's not too late to see the DEVIL IN THE DETAIL Verse 2 now deals go down that seem to lack responsibility as some are hurtled to the top with low ability with many minds as one applied to get the shares up employed by others who abuse their overflowing cup Chorus 2 how can we fight when most don't see, he's so invisible if you look closely evidence is so un-missable the final rider sits upon a horse that's so pale it's not too late to see the DEVIL IN THE DETAIL Verse 3 master of deception always lurking in the darkness to be exposed in his vain glory and his starkness soon his confirmation that there always was one better who did things strictly in accordance with the letter Chorus 3 how can we fight when most don't see, he's so invisible when most are groping in the darkness indivisible if you look closely evidence is so un-missable he makes all bad things look so highly hug and kissable the marionette, he pulls the strings in horns and forked tail as new atomic threats that once were fought in chain-mail the final rider sits upon a horse that's so pale it's not too late to see the DEVIL IN THE DETAIL Copyright andcopy; 2009 by Steve McAndrew ---------------------------- I then also wrote these the following day in response to another riff based guitar rocker from Bill. They are based upon the current adverse conditions associated with this most sustained cold snap of weather I can ever remember and it's accompanying snow, ice and general treachery!!I will get round to recording these later this week. - When White Turns Black (McAndrew) Verse 1 Treachery has fallen to the pavement down below And since been caressed by the hand of Icy Jack From white with slight forgiveness with at least a half a chance Now the death trap dressed from head to toe in black The town gets out it's bed from it's cocoon of warmth and calm To face the new surprises of the day To maybe walk the gauntlet, more likely ground to frozen palm Against the frozen wall that's standing in their way Chorus 1 When white turns black there's danger Icy fingers take much tighter stranglehold On the corner strangers sing about a manger As the carbon rises beating off the cold Verse 2 The weather front provides a second helping To the system that is struggling hard to cope The lone driver loses line, first right then left side Now in the ditch and solo, sprouting early thoughts of hope Did he leave anyone the facts of his location Can this prison cell still be seen from the road His problem not unique straddles the nation Was it really oh so urgent that he move his load Chorus 2 Can the rays of Sol now start the big reversal To the dangers that have fallen all around This is way beyond the early dress rehearsal As her fingers start to warm the icy ground Verse 3 Black turned back to white with the passing of the night The menace once more lessened, now it's brought back into sight Pick-up truck then tractor have arrived at stricken Alex His smiles replaced by raptures of delight Although this was the first time as the victim of her terror Sure won't be the last as sure as day is clad in light Ice cold windows in the weather will always bring surprises With the bearing of their teeth before they bite Chorus 3 When white turns black there's danger Wild dogs howling at the moon Having met once, no more a stranger Though maybe, just maybe, have we spoke too soon? Copyright andcopy; 2009 by Steve McAndrew ---------------------------- 14 Jan - Oh well guys, regarding Britain's Got Talent, that's clearly a no go and although I did give it my best shot, that clearly has not been good enough. Too old perhaps. It is however extremely galling to hear that the producers were trying to get the owners of a goat that waves to visitors at the animal farm that it resides at to try and get it to the Birmingham auditions......................now that's real talent he said very, very sarcastically!! ---------------------------- I wrote these to one of Marc's tracks that I have just sent the separate finals and a rough mix with some guitar solo work to the Musician's Collaboration site. See how long it takes to work out the subject matter?! Tiger In The Woods (McAndrew) The morning found you'd been driving, driving in your car Leaving problems that needed ironing out because they went too far Master of your profession, making ease of things so tough The fairway was the safer bet but you got hooked, caught in the rough Four days competition is a lot of holes Now the birdies over par have changed your goals Seeking comfort from the strangers led to soiling of your goods Now alerted to the danger, beware the tiger in the woods From the bunker you attack it, give it everything you've got But the sponsors they cease to back it, as in the fringes you were caught What had you been drinking, were you thinking in that head Did you see the vision of the pin from behind a king sized bed Swinging out to in produces fade, yeah With your club in hand through the leafy Augusta glade Seeking comfort from those strangers led to soiling of your goods Now alerted to the danger, beware the tiger in the woods Seeking comfort from those strangers led to soiling of your goods Now alerted to that danger, beware the tiger in the woods Seeking comfort from those strangers led to soiling of your goods Now alerted to the danger, beware the tiger in the woods Brings a different meaning to the title of 'The Old Course' As you feel the wrath of the media's raging force Can we have high tee, just you and me And I'll wear my glove for free Copyright andcopy; 2010 by Steve McAndrew |
